Gold Coast rainy weather reminds of the need for Roof Maintenance
This past few week’s of rain in South East QLD should remind us all of the importance of undertaking basic maintenance of our roofs.
The first and most regular maintenance should be checking and cleaning gutters to keep them free from leaves and other rubbish to allow water to flow freely through them. Also make sure that the top of the down pipe is clear and if you have Leaf Eaters, rainheads or other water catchment devices then they should also be cleaned.
Metal Roofing Gold Coast
Many homes with flatter roofs will have box gutters which will have an overflow slot. Box gutters are well known for leaking because they are concealed from view so out of mind out of site. They are larger and can collect more rubbish. We learnt the hard way when we had a leak because a soft drink bottle somehow ended up in our sump and it blocked the downpipe, and the overflow went through our soffit.
If you can’t safely get onto your roof to check your box gutters or your house is too high to safely climb a ladder and check your gutters, we can refer some reputable local contractors, particularly on the Gold Coast and Tweed who can help you.
One way to minimise the maintenance required is to install a high quality leaf guard on your gutters. We have tried many different types over the years and while many are rubbish, there are a few great options available for Colorbond and tile roofs. Call us on 07 5564 8200 or click here and complete an enquiry form if you would like to put some on your gutters to help reduce your maintenance and reduce the leak potential on your roof.
Four Seasons Gutter Protection for metal roofing gold coast. Get the water into the gutter and the rubbish out. We know it works because we use it on our homes.
Four Seasons Gutter Protection for tile roofing. Rainwater is caught by the guard and flows into the gutter rather than skating across the guard like what happens on many other gutter guards.
